Jack Herer is one of the few cannabis strains named after a real person whose actual story deserves as much attention as the plant itself. Jack Herer — known as "The Emperor of Hemp" — was an American cannabis activist who began campaigning for legalization in 1973 after opening a head shop in Los Angeles. His 1985 book, The Emperor Wears No Clothes, became the most widely cited historical and legal argument for cannabis and hemp and has remained in continuous print since its first publication. He founded HEMP — Help End Marijuana Prohibition — ran for US president twice on the Grassroots Party ticket in 1988 and 1992, and spent decades speaking publicly about cannabis policy before his death in 2010.
In 1994, Amsterdam's Sensi Seeds released a strain in his honor. Alan Dronkers, who developed the strain and is the eldest son of Sensi Seeds founder Ben Dronkers, confirmed that it was not made to Jack Herer's specifications. Sensi had a strain they were already excited about, and they chose to honor him with it. The Haze genetics in the cross came from the breeding library of Neville Schoenmaker, who had sold his collection to Sensi Seeds before co-founding Green House Seeds.

What is Decarboxylation?
Decarboxylation is the chemical reaction that turns THCA into Delta-9 THC. Raw THCA isn't psychoactive on its own, but applying heat — through smoking, vaping, or baking — removes a carboxyl group and converts it into THC, the compound responsible for the "high."
Because THCA weighs more than the THC it becomes, the conversion isn't 1:1. The standard factor is 0.877, so a flower testing at 30% THCA yields roughly 26% THC once decarbed.
