Light Dep / Light Assist THCA Flower

Shop Light Dep / Light Assist THCA Flower from Black Tie, featuring greenhouse-grown cultivars that combine natural sunlight with controlled photoperiod management.

Light deprivation reduces daylight exposure to help initiate flowering when natural days are still long, while light assist uses supplemental lighting when additional control over the plant's light cycle is needed. Both approaches allow cultivators to work with natural sunlight while gaining more control over production timing than traditional seasonal greenhouse growing.

Every batch includes a third-party Certificate of Analysis linked directly on the product page before purchase.

What Light Deprivation Means

Photoperiod cannabis begins flowering in response to longer uninterrupted periods of darkness.

Under natural conditions, that change occurs as the days shorten later in the growing season. Light deprivation allows cultivators to manage that signal by covering a greenhouse canopy with blackout material or automated curtains during part of the day.

By shortening the plant's perceived daylight period, flowering can be initiated without waiting for the natural season to progress.

This gives cultivators additional control over harvest timing while still using natural sunlight as the primary light source.

What Light Assist Means

Light assist works in the opposite direction.

Instead of reducing daylight, supplemental lighting is used to extend or support the natural photoperiod when additional light is needed.

This gives cultivators another tool for managing plant development and production timing while still operating within a greenhouse environment.

The exact way Light Assist is used can vary by facility, season, and cultivar, but the defining idea is the same: natural sunlight remains central, while supplemental lighting provides additional photoperiod control.

The Role of Natural Sunlight

Both Light Dep and Light Assist are greenhouse-based cultivation approaches that use natural sunlight as a primary energy source.

What distinguishes them from traditional seasonal greenhouse cultivation is the added control over the light cycle.

That combination creates a middle ground between fully controlled Indoor production and greenhouse cultivation that follows the natural daylight cycle more closely.

Light Dep vs. Indoor vs. Greenhouse

The easiest way to understand the categories is by looking at the cultivation environment:

Exotic THCA Flower — Black Tie's premium selection tier rather than a specific cultivation method.

Indoor THCA Flower — cultivated under artificial lighting in a fully controlled indoor environment.

Light Dep / Light Assist THCA Flower — greenhouse-grown with natural sunlight plus deliberate photoperiod management.

Greenhouse THCA Flower — sunlight-driven cultivation inside a protected greenhouse structure, with less emphasis on controlled flowering schedules.

The Light Dep / Light Assist collection rotates across Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid selections as new harvests become available.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are THCA Flowers?

All (THC dominant) Cannabis is naturally high in THCA. THCA is the acidic precursor to THC Delta-9 and naturally forms prior to Delta-9 during the lifecycle of the cannabis plant. THCA also converts to THC Delta-9 through Decarboxylation, or heat.

Do THCA Flowers get you high?

Yes, through the process of decarboxylation, THCA can convert into THC Delta-9, which is psychoactive. Therefore, after undergoing decarboxylation, THCA flowers will produce euphoric effects when combusted (smoked).

What is the difference between Exotic, Indoor, Light Dep, and Greenhouse THCA Flower?

Black Tie carries four distinct production tiers. Exotic is our flagship living-soil flower, featuring extended curing periods and a Full Panel COA with comprehensive terpene analysis. Indoor is cultivated in coco coir under strictly controlled environmental conditions for maximum batch-to-batch consistency. Light Dep (Light Assist) is greenhouse-grown using a precision blend of natural sunlight and controlled light cycles, while Greenhouse flower utilizes natural Pacific Northwest sunlight in hoop-house structures. Each tier offers a unique price point, flavor profile, and verified lab documentation.

What makes Black Tie different from traditional dispensaries and online THCA brands?

Four concrete standards set us apart:

First, we source exclusively from rigorously vetted partner farms in Oregon and California using OMRI-certified organic inputs.

Second, our Exotic tier utilizes living-soil cultivation and slow-curing processes that commercial operations typically skip.

Third, we back our catalog with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee—a policy virtually unheard of in the traditional dispensary space.

Finally, every single product is backed by a full-panel COA linked upfront, which is why we are the only hemp company to have placed at a High Times Cannabis Cup competing directly against traditional marijuana brands.

Are Black Tie CBD Products Legal?

Yes. Black Tie CBD products are fully legal under federal law in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill. Our hemp undergoes compliant pre-harvest post-decarboxylation testing to ensure the psychoactive Delta-9 THC concentration does not exceed the legal 0.3% threshold on a dry weight basis. Furthermore, the DEA confirms that hemp-derived products meeting this standard are not controlled substances, allowing for lawful interstate commerce.

What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and how do I read one?

Certificate of Analysis (COA) is an official document issued by an independent, ISO-accredited laboratory confirming a product's cannabinoid potency, Farm Bill compliance, and safety screening results. Every Black Tie product has its specific COA linked directly on the product page before purchase. For our Exotic tier, reports include a full safety panel screening for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial impurities, and a complete terpene breakdown.

What is Decarboxylation?

Decarboxylation is the chemical reaction that turns THCA into Delta-9 THC. Raw THCA isn't psychoactive on its own, but applying heat — through smoking, vaping, or baking — removes a carboxyl group and converts it into THC, the compound responsible for the "high."

Because THCA weighs more than the THC it becomes, the conversion isn't 1:1. The standard factor is 0.877, so a flower testing at 30% THCA yields roughly 26% THC once decarbed.
